Sunday Gathering Report:

Average attendance since last Board meeting (11.25.18 to 1.20.19 - 9 Gatherings) was 11.33 a slight increase over last report. This does not include the Christmas Service (special event) which had 24 attendees. Energy feels good. Sunday committee is strong.

We continue to have technical and internet issues but we are working on them.

There was a robust discussion held about the music at Sunday Service. Rev. Rudy strongly feels that having a professional musician at the service will improve the experience of the service, bump attendance, and attract new people. There was much discussion and it was decided that Rev. Rudy will find a musician who would then audition for the Board before hired.

OLD BUSINESS

Staff Situation:

Staff situation continues to not be adequate. Garrick has been working more recently, and that is good. He is very skilled and valuable. Rev. Steve is frequently not available. David Brunn has been doing volunteer hours and he is good. Rev. Tony is going to come up with a list of tasks that he needs help with based on Rev. Kelly’s suggestion. She thinks she could help more if she knew what Rev. Tony needed. Rev. Tony wants us to realize that with doing ACIM Conferences every year, this is a substantial increase in time and work required. He feels we could use more help from a person skilled in office work who would work in the San Francisco office.

NEW BUSINESS

2019 Boston Conference:

Currently 439 tickets sold. Some people are cancelling now. All on waiting list have either declined or accepted. Rev. Rudy can no longer make a Saturday night dance party so we have to pursue other options. Rev. Kelly has stepped up and is going to look into getting a live band or DJ for the Saturday Night conference party.

CMC Publishing Inclusive Language Version of ACIM (The Original Edition):

No progress on the project since last meeting. The holidays and new year were too busy. Finishing the bookkeeping and handling move of Sunday Gathering and in person ACIM meetings was time and energy consuming. Rev. Tony hopes to make progress soon. There have been suggestions that Rev. Tony get away for about a week’s time to start the project. Rev. Kelly has volunteered to host him.

2020 Conference In Los Angeles:

Rev. Kelly and Rev. Tony tentatively planning a trip to Los Angeles and the Omni L.A. for mid-March.

Rev. Tony's Salary:

At the 163rd meeting (12.06.16) we voted to reduce Rev. Tony's salary from $2,000 to $1,000 a month as soon as his social security began, which did retroactively Nov. 2016. At that time, he could not make more without jeopardizing his Social Security benefit. Rev. Tony has continued to work ~50 hours a week regardless. Since his body is now 66.5 plus years old, he can make more money without jeopardizing his Social Security stipend. He is asking for a raise at least to $1400 a month.

Motion: The CMC Board will increase Rev. Tony's monthly salary to $1,400.00 a month. Unanimous.

No "Free" Class Sessions:

A habit has developed to allow graduated students to sometimes return and take an occasional class session for free. Both Rev. Kim and Rev. Paul have done this. It has developed into a problem and Rev. Tony believes we need a firm restatement of our policy to not allow anyone to take any session of our classes for free.

Motion: The CMC Board affirms that all CMC classes that require enrollment and tuition will not offer any free sessions to unenrolled students. Unanimous.

Proposal for Teacher Certification Program using Circle of Atonement Book and class for "ACIM-1" equivalent.

ACIM-2 student Deb Canja has a proposal she has developed with Rev. Tony's help to offer a more extensive training program that would take 2 or 3 years and certify people as "CMC Teachers of ACIM." She believes there is a market for younger, entrepreneurs, and life coaches who are looking for credentials and interested in incorporating ACIM into their practices. The program will be more involved than our current ministerial program and will cost more. Deb. C. would help in some aspects of the program which would be her ministerial project. She believes she has a few people who would already be interested. The program would bundle the ACIM Conferences and CMC membership into it from the start. Students would be required to attend our yearly Conferences and be Supporting Members from the beginning. Rev. Tony read the full proposal.

There was a discussion on this proposal. It is favored by Rev. Tony as he believes that the CMC is a natural choice for this proposal due to our reputation in the ACIM community for longevity and long teaching record. Some concerns were expressed about how this would impact our current ministerial training program since the current program costs less, requires less involvement, and could be quicker. It might be perceived as having less gravitas and meaning compared to a new Teacher Certification Program. Motioned tabled until next meeting. A Zoom Conference call with Deb C. will be arranged for those who would like to talk with her. Participation in the Zoom Conference would be optional.

2021 ACIM Conference:

We now need to start thinking about an ACIM Conference for 2021. There were some cities proposed including Atlanta,GA and New Orleans, LA. Atlanta has many attractions including a very famous aquarium and many museums. We do not have a known ACIM teacher in this area with whom we could work with to support the local promotion. New Orleans was also discussed and seemed to get more support. We also have Rev. Myron Jones who lives in the area and who has been a Presenter at our past conferences.

Next Meeting:
Our next Scheduled Board meeting is Sun. Mar. 24, 2019 but we will need to reschedule if Rev. Tony & Rev. Kelly go to Los Angeles then.

Respectfully Submitted, Rev. Peter Graham, Secretary
